OWEN G. GLENNON HITS THE ROAD FOR MARIST
I have a story for you, family, friends, and Marist Community. It is the story of my cycling journey from the Marist Brothers Retreat Center in Esopus, New York, on the western banks of the Hudson River, northwest of Poughkeepsie, New York back to Marist High School in Chicago, Illinois, on the back roads of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. It is the journey that the Marist Brothers took some fifty plus years ago when they traveled from the tranquility and beauty of the Hudson River Valley to our beloved Mt. Greenwood, Illinois. Well, they didn't travel by bike and they didn't roam the back roads but they came and we on the South Side of Chicago have never been the same and will forever be grateful for the journey they made.
I have taught Math to students at Marist these last thirty-nine years and as I begin my fortieth year at Marist I've decided to embark on this journey to bring a little attention to Marist, the generous and adventurous spirit of the Marist Brothers, to reach out to our Alumni, and to seek the prayers and support of those many Marist graduates and their families for Marist and its current students. |
